One week after returning from 17 days at sea level -- including 14 days on a cruise ship to/from warmer climates -- Cathie and I drove up to her cabin for Christmas Eve. Some (drier) years we are able to drive all the way to the building, and some (wetter) years we must park out by the main road, but this year we were able to make it halfway...
...before stopping due to one (across the driveway) of (I counted) eleven big trees that had blown over! A neighbor reported it happened in 110 MPH winds somewhere around the start of November. Fortunately there was no visible damage to the cabin itself. (Our previous visit ended October 2.)
The outside low overnight was about 15 degrees, and inside the cabin after the fire went out it got down to 34 degrees. But we slept OK, and on Sunday I did a lot of chainsawing!
