Major King and I returned to Black Mountain in my Subaru wagon over one weekend in July to hunt for the oldest known living trees in the Rocky Mountains. This was after driving counter-clockwise around the mountain on rough roads the previous June 25. We had good pictures of two of the trees, only one of which had sufficient background to find the tree (I figured out on Sunday morning).
I wrote a lengthy trip report about this outing, also about our return with other folks in August, which I won't repeat here. Some of the photos here also appear in that report.
