Not long before the event, Bob Proulx and Sue Wolber invited me to join
them on a winter hut outing to Francie's Cabin to help fill the roster.
This destination was one of many run by the 10th Mountain Division.
The trip was organized by Doug Josephson (thanks!) It was arranged for
three nights, Friday-Monday, with a peak of 20 people in our group for
Saturday night.
Bob, Sue, and I were all "hut virgins" ready for a novel experience.
I rode up and back with them. We left Fort Collins at 9:40 am, were on
the trail at 2:15 pm, and took "only" three long hours to make it about
2.2 miles up the hill. At least we arrived before sunset!
